KARACHI: The 65th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was commemorated with respect all over the country, including Karachi, on Wednesday.
Various ceremonies were organized by the government and civil society organizations in the city and other parts of the country to observe the day with renewed commitment to make the country and the nation prosperous. Special prayers were offered at the mosques for Quaid, nation and country.
Radio Pakistan, PTV and other electronic media channel aired special programs to pay homage to the father of the nation on the occasion of his death anniversary.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited the mausoleum of founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, laid wreath on his mazar and offered fateha to mark his 65th death anniversary.
After offering Fateha Governor Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh put their impressions on visitor’s book about the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah under which he struggled and successfully got the Pakistan Independent. A Quran Khawani was held at Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday visited the mazar of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi on the eve of Quaid’s death anniversary and offered fateha. Zardari was accompanied by Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the former President on the eve while recording his observations in the visitor’s book called upon the people to adhere to the principles and values for which Pakistan was created.
Following is the text of the observations recorded by the former President. “It has always been a great privilege to visit the mazar of the Quaid. On this occasion I call upon the people to adhere to the values and principles for which Pakistan was created.
“The recent completion of peaceful democratic transition for the first time in the country just on the eve of Quaid anniversary is the fulfilment of a dream and most reassuring.
“I am impressed with the upkeep of the mazar and wish to commend the management and staff for their devotion and dedication”, the former President said.
