QUETTA: Met-Office has predicted good rains with snowfall over the hills during the first week of Feb 2014.
A Spokesman of Met-Office informed Friday that a weather system is likely to develop over Iran in next couple of days that would break the prevailing dry spell in Pakistan. This weather system is likely to approach Pakistan during the coming weekend and it will produce good rain/snow as;
* Scattered rain (with snowfall over the hills) is expected in Balochistan from Friday (evening) to Sunday.
• Widespread rain is expected in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Lahore Divisions) and Kashmir from Saturday (evening) to Monday.
• Good snowfall is also expected over the hills of Murree, Upper KP (Malakand and Hazara Divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday/Monday. Heavy snowfall may occur over the hills of Galiyat and Neelum Valley during the period.
The barani areas of wheat crop may receive good rain during the period. The current wet spell is followed by a Cold Wave. Spokesman further informed that 3 to 4 spells of winter rain are expected during the month of February 2014.
