Valley shivers under cold spell


QUETTA: A cold weather has gripped Quetta Valley and other parts of Balochistan following widespread rain and snowfall in northern area of the province. Due to persisting cold spell Minimum Temperature dropped to Zero Celsius and maximum 6.5 Celsius here Monday.

Quetta-Chaman road was blocked at Kozhak Top due to snowfall. Road became slippery due to freezing of snow and three trucks skidded and three persons were injured. Injured were projected medical aid at Chaman and later referred to Quetta for treatment.

Cold has also intensified in Mastung, Kalat, Zhob, Ziarat, Killa Abdullah and other parts. Mountains around Killa Abdullah Toba Achakzai, Khwaja Imran and Darrah Arambi and plains were covered with snow. Due to snowfall weather turned very cold. Train was also falling in the area since this morning.

Due to snowfall in Ziarat and Kan Mehterzai national highway was closed for traffic causing problems for the travelling people. Due to low gas pressure and electricity load shedding people faced difficulties.

Local Met office has predicted light rain during night and partly cloudy weather during the day tomorrow.
