Peshawar: Qaumi Watan Party, an former allied party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has raised an outcry against the PTI chief Imran Khan for giving statement in favour of Kalabagh Dam, termed that it was a dead issue, which raised by the Imran Khan, to gain political mileage, for upcoming local bodies elections in Punjab.
“PTI chief Khan Imran’s statement was an insult to three provincial assemblies that had passed unanimous resolutions against the construction of the KBD”, said QWP Provincial Chairman, Sikandar Khan Sherpao while speaking at news conference here at press club on Tuesday. He said the construction of Kalabagh dam, was harmful for Nowshera, Charsadda and Mardan. “We would strongly oppose any such project, which will be affected the K-P, Mr Sherpao said.
QWP provincial chairman asked the statement of PTI chairman was reflecting non-seriousness in resolution of the people issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his party-led coalition government ruled. “Imran Khan is not interested in the problems of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who voted him to rule the province but was eyeing on Central government as well as the Punjab government,” the QWP leader added.
Flanked by the QWP provincial coordinator Ghufran Khan, and other leaders, he said his party would take all political parties in confidence regarding KBD issue. Any project, which has against the interest of Pakhtuns, will be strongly opposed, he vowed. He added the QWP will take every step for protection of right of Pakhtuns and this province.
Sherpao also criticised that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was using the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as springboard to get popularity in the Punjab, where instead of utilizing the energies of Pakhtun youths for positive activities had taken to them to the streets.
Criticizing the PTI-led provincial government, QWP leader said that no serious efforts were being made to overcoming with deteriorating law and order, price-hike, and unemployment in the province. He furthermore said that KP government has failed to launch any developmental scheme despite the completion of first-quarter of the current fiscal year.
Regarding the offer of Federal government to handover Pesco administrative affairs to KP, he said the Imran Khan and its party-led government needs to avail first control of power generation, situated in the province, then asked to fully get control the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company. The provincial government and PTI chairman, he said, was also confused about taking the control of Pesco by issuing of different statements on this crucial matter.
Similarly, he said that the provincial government had not raised an Rs.6billion per annum of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, capped under the net-hydel profit with Centre, and only talking about payment arrears of net-hydel profit. He criticised that PTI-led coalition government was not taking serious steps for resolutions of the issues of the people.
About the PTI ongoing ‘sit-in’ against Nato supply in KP, he commented that the way of governance was totally wrong, which will be proved harmful for the province. He said the provincial government should take steps against the lawlessness, price-hike and other issues, instead of generating unemployment in the province.
