SC seeks reports on billboards from KMC, CCB

KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday directed Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Clifton Cantonment Board to submit a report on billboards and hoardings which have been installed illegally in the city.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Tasadduq Hussain Jilani was seized with the hearing of a petition filed by Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC) challenging a verdict of Sindh High Court that declared as illegal the extra fee being charged by CBC from advertising agencies.

The bench disposed of the petition when advocate Khalid Javed, representing CBC did not press it.

The bench directed CBC to charge fee from advertising firms strictly in accordance with cantonment laws.

The bench further issued directives to KMC and CBC submit report regarding setting up of illegal hoardings and billboards within a month.
