KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued notice to chief secretary, additional chief secretary planning and development department, director general Sindh Coastal Community Development Project (SCCDP) on a petition calling for regularization of services of SCCDP employees.
The petitioners Dr Syed Waqar Ali Shah, deputy director Coastal Resource Development (CRD), Muhammad Hassan Farooqui, Matee ur Rehman and other employees working under Sindh Coastal Community Development Project (SCCDP) in different scales approached the court against non-implementation of Sindh Regularization of Adhoc and Contract Employees Act 2013 passed by the provincial assembly.
The petitioners represented by Ghulam Mustafa Lakho submitted before the court that provincial government seemed reluctant to implement the regularization Act 2013 by the way of not issuing them formal regularization orders. They said that additional chief secretary planning and development department has not yet forwarded any note to chief secretary for the regularization of SCCDP staff.
The petitioners expressed apprehension that if they are not regularized by provincial government, they might be removed from the services without due process of the law. They pleaded to the court to direct respondents to implement the regularization Act and issue them permanent orders.
After hearing preliminary arguments, the bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued notice to respondents and adjourned the hearing of the case to January 16, 2013.
