UN Human Rights Council ‘expresses regret’ over US withdrawal

United Nations Human Rights Council has expressed regrets and disappointment over the Trump administration's announcement that United States has withdrawn from the Geneva-based body as Council alleging that biased against Israel and in need of major reform.

UN human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein said the election of a new member state to replace the United States would take place as soon as possible to fill the vacant seat.

Speaking hours after the US move, President of the 47-member Council, Vojislav Suc said the poll would take place once US notification of withdrawal is formally received.
